Gurdwara land reclaimed from land mafia after 77 years

Gurdwara-Land-reclaimed

The district administration conducted a large-scale operation against encroachments, recovering land belonging to the Sikh community that had been illegally occupied for 77 years.

This operation occurred on Zafarwal Road, overseen by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zulqarnain and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Muhammad Iqbal.

The land in question, covering eight canals and including a 500-pond area of Ranjit Singh’s Gurdwara Babe-Di-Bari, had been seized by a land mafia in 1947 and converted into a cattle pen, along with the establishment of half a dozen shops and a political party office. The encroachments were cleared using heavy machinery.

Municipal Officer Regulation Rana Saqlain, anti-encroachment staff, local police officials, and Revenue Department officials were involved in the operation.

As per the Revenue Department’s records, ADC Revenue Muhammad Iqbal informed the media that the land rightfully belonged to the Sikh community.
