iPhone 16 Pro Max to Feature Longer Battery Life and Enhanced Thermal Management Despite Same Capacity

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have longer battery life despite having the same battery capacity as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo, known for his accurate Apple-related predictions, reports that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a higher energy density battery, allowing for extended use.

However, this new battery technology is anticipated to produce more heat. To address this, Apple plans to encase the battery in a stainless steel sheet for improved thermal management. Leaked images suggest that this stainless steel casing will also be present in the iPhone 16 Pro, indicating that both Pro models may benefit from this feature.

Additionally, the stainless steel sheet will facilitate easier battery replacements and ensure compliance with the European Union’s regulations requiring replaceable batteries in smartphones.

Kuo mentions that Sunway will be the primary supplier of these stainless steel battery casings for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. If the initial production is successful, Apple may extend this new battery casing technology to the entire iPhone 17 lineup.

Following Apple’s traditional schedule, the iPhone 16 series is expected to launch in September. This series will include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, there are rumors that the Plus model will be replaced by a new, slimmer variant called the iPhone 17 Slim, which is expected to be the most expensive model in the lineup.
