Minimum Wage in Punjab Increased to Rs. 37,000

Minimum Wage

The Punjab government has proposed an increase in the minimum wage by Rs. 5,000, raising it to Rs. 37,000.

Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman announced this proposal while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Currently, the minimum wage in the province is Rs. 32,000. The federal government had also proposed a similar increase, raising the minimum wage from Rs. 32,000 to Rs. 37,000 in the federal budget a day earlier.

Additionally, the Punjab government has aligned with the federal government by proposing up to a 25 percent increase in salaries and a 15 percent increase in pensions. These proposals are expected to receive approval and be implemented starting July 1, 2024.
