RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has made an official visit to Germany, engaging in separate meetings with the country’s civil and military leadership, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

During his visit, General Munir was received at the Federal Ministry of Defence by General Carsten Breuer, the Chief of Defence, where he was honored with a guard of honor by a contingent of the German Armed Forces.

The COAS also met with Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, the Chief of the German Army, and visited the Army Combat Training Centre in Gardelegen alongside his German counterpart. He received a detailed briefing on the center’s operations and the training programs for the German Army and other international contingents. General Munir observed a demonstration of urban warfare and toured various training facilities.

Additionally, General Munir held discussions with Jens Plötner, the German Chancellor’s Foreign Policy and Security Adviser, Tobias Linder, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Nils Hilmer, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence. These meetings covered topics of mutual interest, with the German leadership acknowledging the Pakistan Army’s significant role in combating terrorism and maintaining regional peace and stability.

General Munir is also scheduled to visit the German Armed Forces Command & Staff College in Hamburg. There, he will address students from various countries, discussing Pakistan’s regional and international security perspectives and the contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces to United Nations (UN) missions.
