Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Determine Eid ul Adha Date on Friday

Eid ul Adha Date

As Pakistan gears up for Eid ul Adha, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow (Friday) to sight the Zil Hajj moon, which will ascertain the date for the Eid festivities.

According to the state broadcaster, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will preside over the meeting. Muslims worldwide observe Eid ul Adha on the 10th of Zil Hajj, following the sighting of the moon marking the commencement of the Islamic month of Zil Hajj.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has stated that the new moon will appear precisely at 5:38 pm. “There are strong indications of moon sighting on June 7, as it will be over 26 hours old by then,” he added. This suggests a high likelihood of the moon being visible, paving the way for the announcement of the Eid ul Adha date.

As Eid ul Adha draws near, cattle markets have emerged in various locations, enabling individuals to procure cows, goats, sheep, or camels for the ritual sacrifice. One of the largest markets in Karachi has been established in Taiser Town at the Northern Bypass, offering a centralized venue for animal trade.

To facilitate transactions, the management of the Karachi cattle market has installed ATMs and temporary branches of major banks. This initiative ensures that buyers can conveniently withdraw funds to purchase sacrificial animals, streamlining the process and enhancing security.

Amidst the nation’s anticipation of the moon sighting announcement, preparations for Eid ul Adha are in full swing, with families eager to observe the festival’s traditions and religious significance.
